Day trips and activities off-site

Beach

Not from California?  Live in one of those landlocked states and can't enjoy the beauty of the ocean?  We can help out with that!  You may even be from California and know exactly what the beach is all about...FUN!  Campers take a day trip to Ventura Beach and play in the waves, eat lunch, and soak up the sun.  Don't forget the sunscreen!  If you do, we got extra :)     

Fishing

Our program includes  fishing trips to nearby Castaic Lake. For campers who wish to test the waters off-shore we also offer special deep sea fishing excursions, for an additional charge of $50.

 Wake-boarding and Tubing

Campers can choose to spend a full day at Castaic Lake learning how to wake-board, water-ski, and tube! Instruction is provided by a crew of licensed boat drivers, all with lifeguarding, first aid and CPR. Children from beginners to advanced riders will find something to whet their appetite and increase their knowledge of the sport. In keeping with state law and our concern for safety, jet-skis are driven only by staff and campers are passengers.

Castaic Lake: Kayaking/Paddle Boarding/Sailing/Fishing

Our program includes trips to nearby Lake Castaic Lake where campers will experience tubing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, and fishing.  Camp Cottontail will have life guards on duty and all of the necessary equipment for campers to experience all the lake has to offer.  All activities will be conducted on the lower lake away from all power boats.

Paint Ball

Paintball is conducted by a certified company called Paintball USA.  Campers will be transported to an offsite location where they will compete in teams or individually, to eliminate opponents by tagging them with paintball capsules.  Paintballs have a non-toxic, biodegradable, water soluble mineral-oil. The game is regularly played at an age appropriate sporting level using paintball markers or infrared laser tag markers depending on age.  The site has 10 different fields simulating different terrain and tactical options.  Safety is strictly enforced.

Surfing

Camp Cottontail Camp will provide campers with surf instruction.  Cottontail has introduced thousands of campers to the exciting recreational activities of surfing, boogie boarding, coastal hikes, and beach games.  Under the supervision of fully qualified, experienced and friendly instructors and the latest and safest equipment, including full length wetsuits and specially designed beginners softboards, campers learn to surf California’s waves.
